Lifer List 11-15

Time for birds number 11-15! I’ve really enjoyed going back through all the photos I’ve taken this year and seeing all the birds again. Some of these photos are definitely not my best, but I think it’s important to look back and see how you’ve improved and grown with your skills.

First up is the Mallard duck. I have an absolutely horrible time trying to get pictures of ducks, they are some of the more spooky birds but I really enjoy trying to photograph them. Male Mallards are so stunning with their deep green plumage.

Another bird I really have a hard time photographing is the American Crow. These guys are always so suspicious and never seem to want to allow me to get close. Again this is not my best, but I digress. This was one of the first times I was able to get a closer up photo.

Here is a bird that’s a dime a dozen. The Common Grackle are a plague to my bird feeders and make such a huge mess. But, they are really pretty and funny to watch. They tend to be bullies to the little birds however, so once in a while I may shoo them away lol.

Another bird that’s super common in the spring and summer months is the Red-winged Blackbird. Honestly they become a little annoying after a while but they make for a great photo. This picture is horrible to me but it was the first photo I got that was a good clear picture. The aberration is really aberrating 🫣.

Speaking of annoying birds, the Killdeer. These birds will just scream their little hearts out the second you disturb their peace and make sure you don’t forget you did it lol. While cranky, they are very pretty little shore birds and I really love their piercing red eyes.
