It was really cold this morning and I wasn’t really expecting to find anything new, but just a little ways down from the Goose Pond is a little grassy area with a bunch of trees we decided to check out. I’m so glad we did because this place was absolutely full of birds! Right away I saw my favorite, and you should know by now it was the Downy Woodpecker. He was not bothered by me at all and I got some really great close up photos of him.
I had my Merlin app running the sound identification and quickly saw that it was picking up White-throated Sparrows. This would be a new bird to my life list so I made it my mission to find one. I was successful and managed to get a really nice photo.
Much to my delight, I was able to add another new bird to my life list today, and that was the Lincolns Sparrow. These little guys were pretty cheeky and flitted all around me, providing tons of great opportunity to snap. I absolutely love how this one came out! I’m glad I decided to walk around the trees today and will for sure be going back to see what else I can add to my list.
