March has been the month of new Lifers and ducks. So many ducks. I would say that I can’t complain, but I need to a little, lol. Ducks are one of my top nemesis birds, as they get so easily spooked and make it difficult to get close up shots of them. Even when shooting from a car window, the ducks just sense my presence and immediately flee the scene. It can be frustrating, but I did get some nice shots along with the not so good ones. As far as lifers go, I added a total of six new birds: Purple Finch, Snow Goose, Common Goldeneye, Canvasback, Rusty Blackbird, and Common Merganser. Three of these are duck species, and will need to be improved upon sometime in the future. But overall I’m really happy with how many birds I’ve seen in March, with the total being 28. This is the most so far this year in one month, with January bringing in 18, and February with 10, with the year total up to 56 species photographed. Spring is here and the migrations seem to be in full swing, so hopefully in April I can see a lot more.
