February was definitely on the slow side as far as finding new species. I was kind of surprised after how well January went, but I still did find some fun species to add to the year list. I did also get to add four new birds to my Lifer List, so I really can’t complain! With 10 species found in February, that brings the year total up to 28. My four new lifers include the Horned Lark, White-winged Crossbill, Redpoll, and Brown Creeper. Aside from the Brown Creeper, these were all unexpected finds for me as they seem to most commonly be found a little further north. So while numbers were small, they were mighty! And I look forward to what I can find in March.

Canada Goose, White-crowned Sparrow

Horned Lark, Ring-necked Pheasant

Cedar Waxwing, White-winged Crossbill

Redpoll, Northern Cardinal

Hairy Woodpecker, Brown Creeper
